Overview
Adler University administers two student satisfaction surveys collectively referred to as “Noel Levitz” every two years. This nationally recognized survey is conducted every other year to gather insights about the student experience — academics, campus life, student services, and more. At Adler, we use your confidential responses to identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions that directly impact you and your peers. The next survey is scheduled as follows:
- Launch Date: February 3, 2025
- Close Date: March 3, 2025

Key Features of the Surveys
- Duration: Approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
- Progress Saving: Students can save progress and return later to complete the survey.
- Confidentiality: Surveys are confidential but not anonymous. Students log in using their Adler email as their passcode, which allows the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) to track completion rates. Individual responses are evaluated in the aggregate, ensuring privacy.
Enhancements for 2025
- Streamlined Email Communication: Survey emails will now originate from Adler’s internal systems, reducing the likelihood of being marked as spam.
- QR Code Accessibility: QR codes will allow students to access the survey conveniently via mobile devices.
- Completion Tracking: Students will log in using a passcode, which is their email address, enabling targeted follow-ups for non-completers.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Access: The Director of OIE is the only individual with access to raw data.
- Reports: OIE provides aggregated analytic reports at:
- Campus level.
- Program level.
- Administrative unit level (e.g., admissions, financial aid, library, student services).
- Action Items:
- Administrative units review their reports and develop action items.
- The Provost will communicate planned improvements based on student feedback.
- Progress on action items will be reviewed prior to the next survey in 2027.
Next Steps After Survey is Completed
- Communication: The Provost will share findings and planned initiatives with students.
- Action Planning: Administrative units will implement improvements based on survey data.
- Follow-Up: OIE will monitor and report progress on these initiatives before the next survey administration.
Student feedback from this survey has led to several improvements, including but not limited to:
- Students shared frustrations with the lack of time between semesters. Academic leadership took this feedback and adjusted the academic calendars across campuses to ensure longer breaks between terms, including a reduction in online course length from 8 weeks to 7 weeks to allow for a one-week break between mini-terms.
- All introduction SJP courses (or in the case of Chicago and Vancouver, starting course) have a weekly module that explicitly explores race and ethnicity as it relates to social justice. Further modules explicitly focus on intersectionality and power. A subsequent course offering in the SJP sequence of courses focuses on Adlerian psychology.
- The Library transitioned to a federated search tool that allows users to search their catalog and databases simultaneously, saving precious time for research.
- The MIOP/MAIOP/MOAP program director in Vancouver enhanced communication to students by adding new drop-in advising sessions, crafting a monthly newsletter, and holding town hall meetings once per term.
- SJP seminars on each campus were overhauled to ensure students across the University are taught the same material with tweaks to highlight societal differences in Chicago, Vancouver, and Online. These seminars were also amended to better reflect the .5 credit course load.
- All SJP orientation material is now housed in the Canvas course page for Chicago and Online campus students. The same is in progress for Vancouver campus students.
- The Academic Affairs office created and disseminated a manual on responsive advising to aid academic departments in the development of new academic advising models. Faculty were also offered training on academic advising to further enhance these services to students.
- The Online Campus introduced a pre-orientation for incoming students to bridge the gap between acceptance and matriculation. Students who completed the pre-orientation reported a better understanding of the University and our Student Services.
